Former Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament Shamsul Haque Tuku and former State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak have been arrested by the police.

The arrests took place on the night of Wednesday, August 14, in the Nikunja area of the capital, Dhaka.

According to sources from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the two were apprehended in the Nikunja residential area under Khilkhet Police Station based on a tip-off. They were reportedly in hiding when they were detained in connection with a case filed with Paltan Police Station.

The news was confirmed by Md. Obaidur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department.
