Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country with her family. According to BBC reports, Sheikh Hasina, accompanied by her sister Sheikh Rehana and other family members, has left Bangladesh.
BBC sources indicate that a helicopter carrying Sheikh Hasina is headed towards Agartala, India. The news was corroborated by AFP, citing a close associate of Sheikh Hasina, who confirmed her departure.
“She and her sister have left the Ganabhaban and moved to a safe location. She intended to record a statement but was not given the opportunity,” the official informed AFP.
Reuters has reported that Sheikh Hasina and her family members left for India aboard a military helicopter.
