    Senior lawyer and politician Barrister Abdur Razzaq is critically ill and undergoing treatment at a hospital in London due to prostate cancer. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and has been receiving treatment since then. Recently, his condition worsened, leading to his hospitalization.

    Meanwhile, a Bangladeshi news outlet reported on Saturday that Abdur Razzaq is resigning from his position as Chief Adviser of the AB Party. When contacted via WhatsApp today, Sunday, at around 1 p.m. London time, he confirmed his resignation.

    Razzaq’s close associate and Joint Secretary of the AB Party, Solicitor Golam Azam, provided further information about his health, stating that Barrister Razzaq’s condition is not good. After being in the ICU, he has been moved to a ward. He has taken some food, but his weight has dropped to 53 kilograms. Doctors have advised him not to speak.

    Barrister Abdur Razzaq was a former Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and also served as the lead counsel for the defense in the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh. He resigned from Jamaat in 2019 and was serving as the Chief Adviser of the newly formed AB Party.

    Razzaq came to the United Kingdom on December 18, 2013, and has not returned to Bangladesh since. He has two sons and a daughter, with both sons being barristers. He lives with his wife in East London.
