Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor, has highly praised the “kind decision” of the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to pardon 57 Bangladeshi citizens imprisoned in the country for expressing solidarity with the recent student-led mass uprising.

In a letter addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday, September 3rd, Professor Yunus wrote, “Your empathy and understanding have truly touched us deeply.”

The press wing of the chief advisor stated that Professor Yunus expressed full respect for the laws of the UAE and reaffirmed the commitment to inform and educate citizens about the local laws and cultures of host countries before they travel from Bangladesh.

The chief advisor further stated, “Your generous decision to annul their sentences has brought immense relief and appreciation, especially from the families involved, our larger compatriots in Bangladesh, and, in general, our community in the UAE.”

Professor Yunus mentioned that following their telephone conversation, this pardon is not only an example of the compassionate leadership of the UAE President but also serves as a testament to the strengthening of the enduring fraternal bonds between the two countries.

The chief advisor expressed his heartfelt gratitude for “this kind decision,” which he believes will further solidify the bonds of fraternity and friendship between the two nations.

He added that they remain hopeful about continuing to strengthen bilateral relations and working together in mutual interest for the people.

Professor Yunus wished the brotherly people of the UAE good health, happiness, longevity, and continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
