Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has called for the fulfillment of the dreams of the martyrs. He said that the dreams for which the martyrs gave their lives should be realized. Citing a Hadith, he mentioned that martyrs will be able to intercede for their relatives on the Day of Judgment, even for those who were destined for Hell.

He made these remarks on Monday afternoon during a discussion with the families of 10 martyrs from Mirpur, who were martyred during the anti-discrimination student movement. The discussion was held at a Chinese restaurant in Mirpur, Dhaka North.

The meeting was presided over by Muhammad Selim Uddin, a member of the organization’s Central Executive Council and the Ameer of Dhaka North, and was conducted by Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, the Secretary. Other attendees included Jamaat’s Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain, Central Working Committee member and Naib-e-Ameer of Dhaka North Abdur Rahman Musa, Assistant Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Vice-President of the Workers’ Welfare Federation Laskar Muhammad Taslim, Dhaka Metropolitan Jamaat’s Publicity and Media Secretary Ataur Rahman Sarkar, Working Committee member Shahidullah, Shah Alam Tuhin, and Shibir President Salah Uddin, among others.

In his keynote speech, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged everyone not to be vengeful about past events. He prayed for Allah to guide everyone.

He said that to establish an anti-discriminatory and just society, we must move forward hand in hand. He emphasized that their politics is not for power, but part of their responsibility. He stated that if Allah wills, they will serve the people comprehensively, expressing concern about whether they can bear the burden of this responsibility for every citizen. He prayed for Allah to strengthen their resolve and open their hearts.

The Jamaat Ameer further mentioned that in politics, they are not divided. Currently, they are focusing on four tasks: restoring peace and order in society, seeking prayers from the families of the martyrs, standing by the injured in hospitals, and seeking Allah’s help in building the future of Bangladesh. This, he said, is their politics and responsibility as a party.

He also mentioned visiting the orthopedic hospital and witnessing the cries of those who have lost limbs. He announced their responsibility to provide artificial limbs for those in need.

He further stated that although they have gained a second independence through much bloodshed, those involved in looting, land grabbing, extortion, and occupying offices are the enemies of this second independence. He urged everyone not to give them any opportunity and to resist them at all costs.

He concluded by condemning the act of seizing someone’s property as cowardice and questioned why anyone should take possession of a person’s assets after their flight.

He pointed out that if justice is established in the judiciary, all criminals will be brought to justice, and no one will escape.

During the event, members of the martyrs’ families expressed their feelings, creating an emotional atmosphere. As they recounted the incidents surrounding the martyrdom of their loved ones, everyone was moved to tears. The Jamaat Ameer provided each family member with a grant of 200,000 BDT.
