Killings During Student Movement to be Tried in International Crimes Tribunal: Asif Nazrul

    The interim government has decided to prosecute the killings that occurred during the recent student and public demonstrations through the International Crimes Tribunal. Efforts are also underway to conduct these investigations under the supervision of the United Nations.

    This information was shared by Professor Asif Nazrul, the interim government’s advisor on law, justice, and parliamentary affairs, during a press conference held at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

    Professor Nazrul stated that the killings, which took place between July 1 and August 5 during the student and public demonstrations, will be addressed by the International Crimes Tribunal.

    In addition, all false and harassing cases filed in Dhaka during this period will be withdrawn by Thursday. Any remaining cases are scheduled to be withdrawn by August 31.

    Amidst the widespread student and public protests, Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and left the country on August 5. Following the fall of her government, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
