The Resistance Week has been announced by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, starting today, Tuesday, for seven days nationwide.
As part of the week-long program, a road march will be organized at 3 PM today from the base of the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University, moving towards various locations. At these locations, a minute of silence will be observed, and prayers will be held to honor the martyrs.
Abu Bakr Majumder, a key coordinator of the student movement and a student from the Department of Geology at Dhaka University, announced the program early this morning. The four main demands behind this “Resistance Week” are:
- Formation of a special tribunal to ensure swift justice for the killings carried out by the fascist Sheikh Hasina and her government using a fascist structure.
- Bringing to justice those involved in the planned killing, looting, and other violent acts against minorities by the ruling Awami League and its allies, and addressing the just demands of the minorities.
- Immediate removal of officials in the administration and judiciary who validated the attacks, lawsuits, and massacres during the student uprising and attempted to enforce fascist regimes repeatedly, and their removal from the new government.
- Ensuring equal opportunities for those who have faced discrimination in the administration and judiciary.
The announcement states that as part of this program, road marches will be conducted to locations where national heroes were martyred in the anti-discrimination movement. A minute of silence and prayers for the martyrs will be observed at these sites. Participants will gather at the base of Dhaka University’s Raju Sculpture at 3 PM today.
