The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a new program aimed at achieving their nine-point demands. Tomorrow, Thursday, they will observe the ‘Remembering the Heroes’ program.

Rifat Rashid, the co-coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced this program through a press release sent to the media on Wednesday evening (July 31).

The press release stated that the program will include recollections of the horrific days and nights of oppression; remembrances of the martyrs and the injured by their families and classmates; and activities like painting/drawing, wall writing, banner making, and creating digital portraits depicting the events of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Additionally, it encouraged people to write any content/essays in memory of the martyrs and promote them online and offline using the following hashtags: #JulyMassacre #RememberingOurHeroes.

The press release also specially requested students, teachers, parents, intellectuals, professionals, workers, businesspeople, and people from all walks of life to fully participate in the new program of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

In the press release, Rifat Rashid, the co-coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, “Our beloved Bangladesh is shrouded in a dark shadow of terror today. Using state machinery, the government has perpetrated a brutal massacre on ordinary students, centered on the legitimate quota reform movement of the students. Our bright days have turned dark, and our nights are now filled with the fear of mass arrests.”

“Due to the medieval brutality of the government and its supported student and youth wings, along with joint forces, hundreds of ordinary citizens, including children, have been martyred. Mass arrests are taking place by raiding houses at night. Arrests are being turned into a business. The daily scenes include human rights violations like mobile checks, harassment, and indiscriminate arrests of ordinary students and citizens on the streets.”

“In addition, the police attacked the esteemed teachers of our universities, who are the nation’s best sons and the architects of the future, inside the campus. Some police officers even assaulted teachers like Sheherin Amin Monami and Nusrat Jahan Chowdhury of the Public Administration Department of Dhaka University. We strongly condemn and protest these heinous incidents. Such unprecedented human rights violations in an independent country are extremely shameful for the nation.”

He further stated, “In such a horrific situation, to protest against the mass killings, mass arrests, assaults, abductions, murders of students and the public across the country, and the heinous attacks on teachers, to demand an investigation and justice by the United Nations, and to achieve the nine-point demands of the student community, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement is announcing the ‘Remembering Our Heroes’ program tomorrow, Thursday.”
