A demonstration and rally took place in Gopalganj to protest against the enforced exile and powerlessness imposed on Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister and President of the Awami League. On Tuesday, leaders and activists from Awami League and its affiliated organizations staged two marches, carrying batons.

According to eyewitnesses, the protests commenced at 3 PM and resumed at 6:30 PM from the district Awami League office in Bankpara, Gopalganj town. The demonstrators marched through various streets of the district town, culminating at the local Chaurangi. Leading the procession was G.M. Shahab Uddin, the General Secretary of Gopalganj District Awami League.

During the march, participants voiced slogans including “Sheikh Hasina is fearless, we will not leave the streets,” “Any harm to Sheikh Hasina will ignite fires in every household,” and denounced the Razakars of ’71, urging them to leave Bangladesh immediately. The procession included leaders and activists carrying various items such as spears, machetes, shields, bamboo sticks, iron rods, and pipes.

At a subsequent rally in the Chaurangi area, G.M. Shahab Uddin addressed the gathering, urging leaders, activists, and residents to stand ready with courage in any circumstance. He emphasized that the BNP-Jamaat alliance aims to destabilize Bangladesh and promote lawlessness akin to Pakistan. Their primary goal is to instill terror across the nation.
