Professor Asif Nazrul, Legal Advisor, stated that political parties have declared unity on issues of Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty, existence, and dignity following a meeting with Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. Despite ideological differences, all parties emphasized standing united on national matters.
The meeting, held on Wednesday at the Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy, condemned anti-Bangladesh activities in India, such as the attack on the Agartala Assistant High Commission, and expressed solidarity with the government’s actions. Suggestions included strengthening governmental measures, engaging international allies, and enhancing legal and communication strategies.
Key demands included releasing harmful agreements with India made during the Awami League’s tenure, rejecting damaging projects like the Rampal power plant, and urging India to act as a respectful and honest neighbor. The attendees also denounced economic and cultural dominance attempts and called for resistance against misinformation campaigns.
Nazrul affirmed the collective determination to maintain communal harmony despite provocations and to organize a unified political council. Leaders from various political, religious, and civil society groups participated, representing a broad spectrum of ideologies.
The initiative continues with upcoming meetings involving religious leaders, aiming to build greater national unity.
