On their way to Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were stopped by the Uttar Pradesh police at the Ghazipur border between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Although they began their journey this morning, their motorcade was halted at the border itself.
The police stated that the measure was taken to maintain law and order. On November 24, a clash over a survey at Sambhal’s Jama Masjid led to police firing, killing five people, most of whom belonged to minority communities. To suppress the growing unrest and hide the truth of these minority killings, the administration has not allowed any political leader to visit the area or meet the families of the deceased.
The stoppage of Rahul and Priyanka’s motorcade caused heavy traffic congestion on the
