A group of ISKCON supporters clashed with members of the joint forces over sharing a post about the extremist organization ISKCON on social media Facebook. Seven policemen were injured. Some of them suffered acid burns. The incident took place at Hazari Gali area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram city on Tuesday night. There was extreme anarchy in the area due to the attack and arson of ISKCON supporters.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Kazi Tareq Aziz told reporters on Tuesday night. A shopkeeper named Osman shared a post on his Facebook a few days ago mentioning the name of ISKCON. Angered by this, some people of the Hindu community attacked his shop in the evening. At that time, they were protesting. On receiving the news, members of the joint forces went there. When Osman was rescued, angry people demanded that he be handed over to them. At that time they started throwing brickbats. Osman was later taken into police custody. Angry people started throwing brickbats at the joint force members again. At one point, they also threw acid. Seven policemen, including Assistant Commissioner (Kotwali zone) Mahfuzur Rahman, were injured in the attack. One of them suffered acid burns. They have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Police official Tareq Aziz said the joint forces fired several rounds of blank shots to control the situation. Now the situation is calm. Raids are being conducted in Hazari Gali area to arrest those who create chaos.
