The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has intensified efforts to quell unrest linked to the quota reform movement by launching a nationwide “combing operation” to apprehend alleged saboteurs. Additional Commissioner Harun-your-Rashid announced that cases are being filed against individuals identified as participants in clashes, attacks, vandalism, and arson. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed that this operation commenced on Sunday, targeting those responsible for recent violent incidents. According to Rashid, the police are compiling a list of suspects, including those who directly participated in the violence, instigators, financiers, and suppliers of weapons. The police have made it clear that anyone involved in the mayhem, from direct actors to supporters, will face legal action. Rashid specifically mentioned that cases will address vandalism, arson, and attacks on infrastructure such as BTV, the metro rail, and the expressway, emphasizing the comprehensive scope of the crackdown.
