The court has imposed a travel ban on 17 ministers and 9 members of parliament from the ousted Sheikh Hasina government, who are accused of being involved in irregularities and corruption.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan, Mohammad Assams Jaglul Hossain, issued the order on Monday afternoon based on a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Public Prosecutors (PP) Mir Ahmed Ali Salam and Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed to Prothom Alo that a travel ban has been imposed on these former ministers and MPs.

PP Mir Ahmed Ali Salam told Prothom Alo that the ACC is investigating allegations against former ministers and MPs from various constituencies of the past government for acquiring unimaginable illegal wealth through various irregularities and corruption. The ACC has learned that 17 former ministers and 9 MPs accused of corruption and irregularities are attempting to leave the country. Therefore, the ACC petitioned the court on Monday to impose a travel ban on these former ministers and MPs to prevent them from fleeing abroad.
