A lawsuit has been filed against 4,114 members of the Ansar force, including 114 named individuals, on charges of unlawful assembly and obstructing police duties. This case was filed at Paltan Model Police Station in the capital.

On Monday, August 26, Sub-Inspector Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan of Paltan Police Station filed the case. As part of the proceedings, 95 Ansar members have been arrested and will be presented in Dhaka court.

Earlier on Sunday, Ansar members staged a protest in front of the Secretariat to press for their demands. At one point, they surrounded and blocked access to the Secretariat.

As a result, many, including government officials, were trapped inside. When Hasnat Abdullah, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, posted about the situation on Facebook, thousands of students from Dhaka University marched toward the Secretariat. Clashes ensued between the Ansar members and the students, with several rounds of chase and counter-chase. During the conflict, several individuals were injured. The Ansar members eventually withdrew when the students intensified their stance.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.K.M. Shahabuddin Shaheen stated that charges were being prepared against the Ansar members due to their involvement in violence.

So far, over 300 Ansar members are in police custody. It has been reported that they have been taken to various police stations, including Shahbagh, Ramna, Paltan, and Motijheel.
