Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s Interim Government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has pledged to protect the rights of all citizens, with a special focus on minority groups. This commitment comes as Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended his support to the transitional government during a recent discussion between the two leaders.
The conversation between Yunus and Anwar centered on enhancing bilateral relations, with Yunus extending an invitation for Anwar to visit Bangladesh in the near future. Anwar congratulated Yunus on his appointment as Chief Advisor, reaffirming Malaysia’s readiness to assist the interim government in navigating the country’s political transition.
This leadership change in Bangladesh follows a period of intense political unrest that led to the ousting of the previous government. The new transitional government, consisting of 17 members, was officially established on August 8.
Professor Yunus, an 84-year-old Nobel laureate with a longstanding connection to Malaysia, emphasized the importance of international support in ensuring stability and protecting human rights during this critical period.
