The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has published a list of “collaborator” journalists. They have demanded action against these journalists, who are accused of inciting violence that led to bloodshed during the anti-discrimination student protests. On Saturday, August 10, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement submitted this demand to the Acting President and General Secretary of the National Press Club, including a list of the accused journalists.
The letter was presented by Abdul Kader and Abdul Hannan Masud, coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
The statement reads, “The Press Club is a national institution that has always stood by the nation during difficult times. However, under the fallen fascist Awami government, this institution has been turned into a partisan establishment, destroying its reputation. Moreover, the Press Club’s President Farida Yasmin (who is not only a collaborator of the fascist government but also a member of parliament) and General Secretary Shyamal Dutta have been constantly involved in anti-humanitarian activities, inciting bloodshed among students by supporting the police and the Awami League and delivering provocative speeches in talk shows.”
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement further claimed that other members of the Press Club, including Probhush Amin, Zayedul Ahsan Pintu (who spread the most falsehoods against students), Mozammel Babu, Ashish Soikat, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Sohel Hasan Chowdhury, Farzana Rupa, Arif Jeptic, Ashok Chowdhury, Shahjahan Sardar, Subhash Singha Roy, Azmal Haque Helal, Abul Khair, Manjurul Islam (DBC), Pronab Saha (DBC), Naim Nizam (Bangladesh Pratidin), Khairul Alam (an agent of Indian intelligence and DUJ leader), Saiful Alam (Jugantor), Abed Khan, Subhash Chandra Badal, J.E. Mamun, Zafar Wazed (PIB), Shahnaz Siddiqui (BSS), Saiful Islam Kallol (BSS), Pavel Rahman, Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Syed Borhan Kabir, Shaban Mahmud, Syed Ishtiaq Reza, Molla Amzad, Shafiqul Rahman, Abul Kalam Azad, Mamun Abdullah (Independent TV), Soma Islam (Channel i), Shyamal Sarker (Ittefaq), Ajay Dash (Samakal), Alamgir Hossain (Samakal), Shakil Ahmed (71 TV), Rama Prasad (Samakal), Sanjay Saha Pial (Samakal), Farazi Azmal (Ittefaq), Anisur Rahman (BSS), Swapan Basu (BSS), Hasan Javed (NTV), Mithila Farzana (71 TV), Shabnam Azim (71 TV), Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Dipak Kumar Acharya, and Naimul Islam Khan were also involved in inhumane activities leading to bloodshed among students.
“We believe that their activities under the guise of journalism were against national interest and the state. The students are now engaged in the work of state reform. We appeal for their expulsion and ban from the journalism community so that these national enemies can no longer harm the nation under the name of the Press Club or journalism.”
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement also mentioned that they have already requested the government to take legal action against them.
