London, 12 June 2025:
In a heartbreaking development, a commercial aircraft travelling from Ahmedabad, India to London Gatwick has crashed, claiming the lives of everyone on board. The incident has sent waves of grief through communities in India, the United Kingdom, and beyond, with families anxiously awaiting official confirmation and details from the aviation authorities.
Responding swiftly to the tragedy, the Muslim Community Association UK (MCA) issued a statement of solidarity and mourning. The association’s Central President, Barrister Hamid Hossain Azad, shared his condolences in an emotional message released this morning.
“This is a moment of profound sorrow for families across continents,” said Azad. “We stand in solidarity with the people of India, Portugal, and the United Kingdom as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un – ‘Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.’”
He further prayed for peace for the departed souls and called for strength and patience for the grieving families as they come to terms with the unthinkable.
The Muslim Community Association has urged people of all backgrounds and faiths to come together in unity, offering compassion and mutual support in what it described as a “shared loss for humanity.”
Local mosques and community centres affiliated with MCA are reportedly preparing special prayer gatherings (duas) in memory of the victims. Community leaders have also extended support to any families in the UK affected by the tragedy.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities from both the UK and India are working jointly to determine what led to the catastrophic failure. As recovery efforts continue, international attention is focused on the airline, safety protocols, and the fate of the victims—many of whom were reported to be families, students, and business travellers.
The MCA has provided contact details for those seeking support or wishing to join community prayers.
