If students leading anti-discrimination movements were to form a political party, 40 percent of people said they would vote for that party, while 44 percent said they would not consider voting for it, and 16 percent refrained from making any comment.

This finding was revealed in the second phase of the “Pulse Survey” conducted by the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD).

The results of the survey were unveiled on Thursday (December 12) at an event organized at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) in Dhaka.

The survey was based on the opinions of 4,158 people from various professions and backgrounds across rural and urban areas. Among the participants, 53 percent were men, and 47 percent were women.

The survey highlighted several key findings. For instance, if an election were held now, 38 percent of respondents said they had not yet decided whether they would vote. Among the remaining 62 percent, 16 percent stated they would vote for the BNP, 11 percent for Jamaat-e-Islami, and 9 percent for the Awami League.

The results were presented by Sheikh Arman Tamim, a research associate at BIGD. He noted that the survey collected public opinions on critical issues such as politics, the economy, the interim government’s term, law and order, and reforms.

Following the presentation, a panel discussion was held, featuring prominent figures such as Anu Muhammad, former professor of Jahangirnagar University; economist Ahmed Ahsan; and PIB Director General Faruk Wasif, among others. The panelists discussed various aspects of the survey results.
