Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, declared that those involved in crimes over the past 16 years will not be forgiven. He made these remarks as the chief guest during a large public gathering at Chanchra intersection in Jessore on Friday night (November 29).

Shafiqur Rahman stated, “Jamaat-e-Islami is working to build a country free of discrimination, the kind of nation for which students and citizens of this country risked their lives. Those who became martyrs in July and August are national heroes. If Jamaat comes to power, those who have committed various crimes over the past 15.5 years will face justice. Criminals will not be pardoned.”

He added, “The first resistance against a country’s aggression began in Jessore under the leadership of the then Sector 9 Commander, Major MA Jalil. For this reason, Jessore holds a distinct place of honor.”

The Jamaat Ameer accused the “fascist Awami League” of relentless oppression against Jamaat leaders and activists over the last 15.5 years, including banning the party at one stage. He claimed, “The Almighty has answered their oppression through their banishment. The people of this country have rejected fascism.”

He further emphasized the need for national unity to thwart ongoing conspiracies by the Awami League. He stated, “Since August 5, there have been no allegations against Jamaat leaders and activists anywhere in the country. Jamaat stood beside humanity during difficult times and will continue to do so in the future.”

At the end of his speech, Shafiqur Rahman lovingly embraced and presented a special gift to Sajib, the young son of slain Jamaat leader Sajal, who had been killed by assailants in Khola Danga on the outskirts of Jessore.
