Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the need for unity in the national interest, stating that while differences in party affiliation, opinions, and religion are natural, collective action is essential for the nation’s welfare. He asserted that measures should be taken against anyone acting against national interests, not limited to ISKCON.

Dr. Rahman made these remarks after a meeting with the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday (November 28) night.

Speaking to the press, Dr. Rahman shared details of their discussion, which focused on fostering unity on national issues and addressing concerns troubling the public. He highlighted the importance of collaborative solutions to pressing problems, such as the rising cost of essential commodities, ensuring prices remain affordable for citizens, especially with Ramadan approaching. He stressed the need to prevent artificial crises that could further burden the population.

Regarding the upcoming elections, Dr. Rahman stated that swift implementation of minimum reforms is necessary. “We have prepared over 40 reform proposals and have submitted 10 key recommendations to the interim government. Elections should be held following these essential reforms,” he said.

Prominent Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including Assistant Secretary-General and former MP Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Halim, and Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, were also present at the meeting.
