Dhaka, October 31, 2024: The two-day Bangladesh-U.S. 8th Land Forces Talks (LFT) 2024, held at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment from October 30 to October 31, concluded today (October 31, 2024), Thursday. Representatives from both countries’ armies participated in this high-level meeting, engaging in productive discussions to enhance mutual cooperation. The Bangladeshi delegation, consisting of 19 members, was led by the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Bangladesh Army, Lieutenant General Mizanur Rahman Shamim, BP, OSP, BAM, NDC, PSC. On the other hand, the 17-member U.S. delegation was led by Major General Scott A. Winter, AM, Deputy Commanding General for Strategy and Plans of the U.S. Pacific Army Command (USARPAC).
During this round of talks, both sides held extensive discussions on various aspects of military cooperation, skill development, and strategic collaboration. The talks emphasized the exchange of training, enhancing the capability to use advanced technology and military equipment, and fostering mutual support. Specifically, there was in-depth discussion on organizing multiple joint training and exercises to boost military capabilities, introducing innovative training methods, and fostering more effective joint cooperation. The delegates reiterated their commitment to further strengthen the ongoing strategic collaboration between the armies of both countries. They agreed on taking effective measures to contribute significantly to regional security and to jointly prepare for both natural and man-made disasters. The discussion highlighted the importance of technical support and readiness in tackling various global challenges, which will play a vital role in maintaining regional peace and security in the future.
