Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, has expressed his desire to build a youth-driven, humane Bangladesh free from enforced disappearances, killings, bribery, and corruption. He emphasised creating Bangladesh without any discrimination.
He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon, October 26, while speaking as the chief guest at a dignitary gathering organised by Jamaat-e-Islami at Altafunnesa sports ground in Bogura.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further stated, “Over the past fifteen and a half years, the country’s people have only received disappearances and killings under the ousted fascist regime, which led to their eventual escape from the country amid student and public protests. Those involved in corruption, looting, creating inequality, and murder will not be spared.”
He continued, “Those who fired upon the country’s people have no moral right to ask for votes from the citizens. The people of Bangladesh do not want to hear their names, nor should they try to intimidate the nation. The guilty will face justice. In the same courts where Jamaat’s top leaders were unjustly sentenced to death, warrants have now been issued against them to ensure they receive appropriate punishment.”
The event, presided over by Jamaat-e-Islami Bogura City Branch Ameer, Principal Abidur Rahman Sohel, was also attended by special guests including Jamaat-e-Islami’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Executive Council member Principal Shahabuddin, and Bangladesh Labor Welfare Federation’s Vice-President Golam Rabbani.
Earlier in the morning, Jamaat’s Ameer addressed a Rukn conference for the Bogura city and district branches at the same venue.
