Hero Alom, a well-known YouTuber, was attacked at the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Bogura on Sunday. He had gone to file a case against 39 individuals, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader. After leaving the court, he was forcibly removed and beaten by a group of attackers, who also subjected him to physical humiliation.
Hero Alom claims that the attack was carried out by a group of youths protesting his comments about BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman. According to Alom, he had been at the court to file a case against Obaidul Quader and former Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal. The attack occurred in front of many witnesses, and the police did not intervene. Local residents later helped him and took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
After the attack, Hero Alom criticized the current government, drawing comparisons to a dictatorial regime. He denied making derogatory remarks about Tarique Rahman and accused DB Harun of pressuring his family to file a case against Rizvi Ahmed. He asserted that there is footage of the attackers and vowed to pursue legal action against them.
Hero Alom has filed a case against 39 individuals, alleging that he was attacked during the 2018 national elections and the 2023 by-elections and that his votes were tampered with.
In response, Ali Azgar Hena, General Secretary of BNP Bogura, rejected the accusations, stating that BNP would not harm individuals like Hero Alom. He described Hero Alom as someone of questionable taste and questioned the motivations behind his allegations against BNP.
