Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has established a private hospital Sylhet Womens Medical and Hospital in Sylhet city that stands as a model of inclusivity and unity. The hospital employs 1,400 staff members, with more than 250 of them belonging to various minority religious communities. In an interview with Kalbela, a prominent Bangladeshi newspaper, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman shared his aspirations for the hospital. He emphasized that his goal is to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, where every individual, regardless of their religious or cultural background, is treated with equal dignity and opportunity.
“No one in this hospital is treated differently because of their faith,” Dr. Rahman stated. “We value merit above all else, and those who demonstrate excellence are given the opportunity to work here, regardless of their background. This institution is built on the principles of fairness and inclusivity.”
