So far, most of the relief efforts have been directed to the shelters in the upazila, but there have been no reports of any relief reaching those who are trapped in their homes due to flooding.

On Saturday, a human rights and volunteer organization distributed various relief materials, including food, essential medicines, candles, and other necessary items, among the flood victims. These relief items were distributed with special donations from the organization’s chief advisor, London expatriate Shah Sufian, social worker Rehana Jilani, and other members.

The distribution activities were led by the organization’s president, journalist Rubel Hossain, and the organizational secretary, Tarfina Shahnaz Rajab. From Saturday morning, members of the organization delivered relief materials to helpless and jobless poor families in flood-affected areas of the upazila throughout the day. The relief items included rice, lentils, oil, salt, potatoes, puffed rice, sugar, flattened rice, biscuits, candles, and essential medicines.

Meanwhile, an organization named Fund for Relief distributed dry food and clean water in various areas of the upazila. The organization’s members, including Rahat Gazi, Jihadul Islam Jisan, Nafis Hasan Bhuban, Niloy, Nafis Hasan Apon, Jisan Bhuiyan, Marup Mahmud, Tanbir, Raihan, Mehdi, Shovon, Abir Tasin, Shahadat Topadar, and Mahbubur Rahman Mehzba, delivered relief materials door to door. In addition, various social organizations are distributing both cooked and dry food at different shelters.

Chatkhil Upazila Executive Officer Sheikh Ehsan Uddin expressed his admiration for the disaster response activities of the local volunteer organizations. He noted that the volunteers have been assisting the upazila administration day and night in helping the flood victims. He further mentioned that most of the state-provided relief has been distributed to shelters. However, efforts will be made to send food supplies urgently to areas facing the most severe problems.
