Advocate Bilkis Jahan Shirin, the Organizational Secretary (Barisal Division) of the BNP National Executive Committee, has been suspended from her party position. This decision was communicated through an official statement issued on Sunday, August 11, by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
According to the statement, Advocate Bilkis Jahan Shirin’s political and organizational activities in her capacity as the Organizational Secretary (Barisal Division) will remain suspended until further notice.
This suspension follows allegations against Bilkis Jahan Shirin, a former Member of Parliament from a reserved women’s seat, and her family, accused of illegally seizing a public pond valued at 10 crore BDT.
The incident, which has been widely reported in the media, involved the pond being filled with sand over four consecutive nights using trucks. Local sources have claimed that the encroachment was carried out by exploiting the current political climate.
