The Full Court meeting of the Supreme Court, which was supposed to be held virtually today at 10:30 AM with the participation of judges from both divisions, has been canceled. Following the directive of the Chief Justice, this meeting was scheduled to take place this morning, but it has been abruptly called off.

When asked about the situation around 10:15 AM, Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan informed Prothom Alo that the Full Court meeting would not be taking place and that it had been canceled.

By around 11:45 AM, several hundred students were seen gathering on the High Court premises.

Regarding today’s Full Court meeting, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and an advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, posted a status on his Facebook page in the morning. In his post, he demanded the unconditional resignation of the Chief Justice and the cancellation of the Full Court meeting.

In his status, Asif Mahmud stated, “The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who is backed by fascism and involved in various wrongdoings, has called for a Full Court meeting without any discussion with the government. Any conspiracy from defeated forces will not be tolerated. Lawyers have already gathered to protest this.”

Asif Mahmud further wrote in his status, “We had previously called for the Chief Justice’s resignation. If he takes a stand against the students and the public and provokes them, he will have to face dire consequences. Immediately, the Chief Justice should resign unconditionally, and the Full Court meeting should be canceled.”
