SM Enamul Haque, the General Secretary of the Paikgacha Upazila unit of the BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) in Khulna, and member Kishore Mondal have been temporarily suspended from the party after allegations of looting and arson at a Hindu businessman’s house were confirmed. They have been stripped of their primary party membership as well as all party positions.

In addition, five leaders and activists from the Sriphultola Union of Rupsha Upazila have been issued show-cause notices for violating party discipline. These individuals have been instructed to submit a written explanation within three days. The notices were issued on Saturday by Amir Ejaz Khan, the convenor of the Khulna District BNP, and SM Monirul Hasan Bappy, the member secretary.

The five individuals who received the show-cause notices are Shahabuddin Ijaradar, the General Secretary of Sriphultola Union; Mahmud Alam Lotus, the member secretary of the District Weavers’ Wing; and BNP activists Nasir Member, Rutap Sheikh, and Shafayet Hossain.

SM Monirul Hasan Bappy, the District BNP member secretary, emphasized that anyone involved in attacks, vandalism, or violating party discipline will face organizational action.
