Shahidur Rahman Takes Charge as Director General of RAB

    Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman has taken charge as the Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today. He succeeded Additional IGP Barrister Md. Harun Or Rashid.

    According to a press release from RAB, Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman joined the police force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1991 through the 12th BCS batch. Throughout his extensive career, he has served with distinction in various critical units of the Bangladesh Police.

    He has held the position of Superintendent of Police (SP) in Noakhali, Bagerhat, and Shariatpur, and has served as Deputy Police Commissioner in DMP Dhaka and CMP Chittagong. Later, he served as the Police Commissioner of CMP Chittagong.

    Additionally, he has served as DIG at the Police Headquarters and at Police Telecom in Rajarbagh, Dhaka. In recognition of his outstanding contribution and exemplary service in the Bangladesh Police, he was awarded the President Police Medal (PPM).

    AKM Shahidur Rahman completed the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) at the Bangladesh Military Academy, the one-year Basic Training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, and the National Defence Course (NDC) from the National Defence College, Dhaka.

    He holds a BSS (Honors) degree from Dhaka University and an MSS in Security and Development from Bangladesh University of Professionals. Additionally, he has completed various courses in the United States, Singapore, and Australia.
