A recent tweet by Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of Bangladesh’s ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has sparked considerable controversy.

On Thursday morning, Saima Wazed posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing her anguish: “Even in these difficult times, I am unable to see my mother, cannot embrace her… my heart is breaking.”

BBC has learned that Saima Wazed arrived in Delhi on Tuesday. However, questions have arisen about why she has not been able to meet her mother, Sheikh Hasina, after arriving in Delhi, and whether Indian authorities have denied her permission to do so.

On Monday, August 5, amidst dramatic events, Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee the country by helicopter. At that time, Saima Wazed was in Thailand.

Reports indicate that Saima Wazed set off for Delhi shortly after Sheikh Hasina landed in Hindon, near Delhi.
