Jamaat-e-Islami has announced that it will provide one lakh taka (100,000 BDT) to the families of individuals who lost their lives during the recent protests demanding government reforms. This announcement was made by AKM Shamsuddin, the Amir of Feni district Jamaat-e-Islami, at a press conference held at the Feni Press Club on Thursday afternoon.

The protests, which led to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and a significant political upheaval, saw several hundred people lose their lives over the past month. In addition to the financial assistance, the Jamaat leader called for a state-sponsored pension scheme for the families of those who died, likening their sacrifice to that of the freedom fighters of the 1971 Liberation War.

During the press conference, AKM Shamsuddin emphasized that the sacrifices made by these students should be honored, and called for their recognition as national heroes. He also urged for the establishment of a pension system similar to that for freedom fighters, stressing the need to maintain the peaceful environment and to address issues related to law and order to prevent the sacrifices from being in vain.

Furthermore, Shamsuddin assured that the Jamaat-e-Islami organization is actively involved in providing financial support for the treatment of injured students and is committed to standing by their families. He also called for vigilance to prevent any damage to state property and to ensure that no harm comes to the nation’s assets.

Shamsuddin also mentioned that the organization is deploying teams across various sub-districts to maintain order and protect religious sites, emphasizing that Hindus are not minorities in Bangladesh and dismissing any divisive rhetoric.
