In a press release issued by the President’s Press Wing on Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that the Twelfth National Parliament has been dissolved.

The statement explained that the dissolution followed a meeting between President Md. Shahabuddin and the heads of the three armed forces, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society, and leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The press release also mentioned that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been released. Furthermore, it was noted that from July 1 to August 5, individuals detained during the anti-discrimination movement and various other cases have begun to be released, with many already freed.
