The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has proposed an interim government framework with Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor.

In a video released early Tuesday morning, Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced this framework. The video was shared on Facebook by another coordinator, Asif Mahmood. Asif and fellow coordinator, Abu Bakar Mojumdar, were also present alongside Nahid in the video.

Nahid Islam stated that they had taken 24 hours to propose the interim government. Given the urgency of the situation, they are now announcing the framework.

Nahid Islam explained that they have decided to form an interim government led by the universally respected, internationally renowned Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor. After consulting with Dr. Yunus, he has agreed to take on this significant responsibility to help save Bangladesh in response to the call from the students and the public. Nahid Islam emphasized their desire to see the process of forming this government by morning and urged the President to promptly establish an interim government with Dr. Yunus as the chief advisor. The names of the other members of this interim government will also be announced by morning.

Nahid Islam stressed that until the interim government is formed, freedom-seeking students and citizens must remain on the streets to protect their uprising. They have shed blood and become martyrs. Their promise to build a new Bangladesh must be fulfilled. No government other than the one proposed by the students and public will be accepted. The student protesters have resolved to form the interim government with Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the chief advisor, and this government must be implemented immediately.

The process of forming an interim government began after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday in response to the student movement. Around 4 PM, Army Chief General Wakar-uz-Zaman addressed the public, stating, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned. We will form an interim government to manage the work. Please be patient and give us time.” Following this announcement, the process began. Yesterday, at Bangabhaban, President Md. Sahabuddin met with the heads of the three armed forces, leaders of various political parties, and representatives of civil society.

According to a press release from Bangabhaban and meeting sources, it was decided to dissolve the national parliament and immediately form an interim government. The army will take steps to stop looting and violent activities. The attendees welcomed this decision.
