The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has issued an urgent call to action for individuals unable to attend the long march to Dhaka to establish protective measures for Hindu and minority communities in their local areas. The movement’s coordinator, Abdullah Saleheen Ayon, has highlighted concerns about potential attacks on minorities, which could be used to undermine their cause.

On Sunday, Ayon conveyed this message via a WhatsApp group with media representatives and later reaffirmed it in a video statement. Another coordinator, Hasanat Abdullah, also emphasized these concerns in a separate video message.

The coordinators have raised alarms about possible targeted attacks on minority groups as a strategy to discredit the movement’s demands for government resignation. They have urged those who cannot join the Dhaka march on Monday to focus on ensuring the safety of minorities in their districts.

Abdullah Saleheen Ayon stated, “For those who cannot join us in Dhaka, it is crucial to establish protective measures for our Hindu and minority brothers and sisters in your respective districts. We must not allow our movement to be compromised.”

He further added, “We are aware of attempts to discredit our movement through various means. Despite the violence and bloodshed, we cannot allow this movement to falter. Join us in Dhaka tomorrow, putting aside all differences, to ensure victory.”

In his video message, Hasanat Abdullah underscored the responsibility of those unable to attend the Dhaka march to safeguard local minorities. He emphasized that the current struggle transcends religious identities, uniting everyone in their shared humanity and opposition to oppression.

Abdullah stated, “In this critical moment, our identities as Muslims, Hindus, Christians, or Sikhs are secondary. Our primary identities are as human beings and victims of oppression. Our movement stands firm against tyranny and injustice.”

He continued, “Our protest will persist until our sole demand is met. Ensure your participation in the Dhaka march tomorrow to contribute to securing victory and a popular uprising.”

The movement’s call reflects a determined effort to protect vulnerable communities amid escalating tensions, underscoring their commitment to the cause despite significant challenges.
