The anti-discrimination students have called for a comprehensive non-cooperation movement starting from Sunday. This program is in protest against the attacks on peaceful student-citizen movements across the country and to press their nine-point demands. Additionally, there is a planned protest march across the country tomorrow, Saturday.
Today, Friday, August 2nd, at 7:44 PM, Abdul Hannan Masud, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, announced the program in a Facebook post.
In the Facebook post, he wrote, “In protest against the killings from attacks on peaceful student-citizen movements across the country and to press our nine-point demands, we are calling for protest marches across the country tomorrow, Saturday, and from Sunday, we will begin an indefinite ‘comprehensive non-cooperation’ movement.”
Urging the public to make the non-cooperation movement successful, he added, “We urge the general public across the country to organize in every alley and neighborhood to make this program a success.”
Meanwhile, on Friday, August 2nd, the streets were vibrant with rallies organized by the anti-discrimination student protesters. After Friday prayers, protesters marched from Science Lab in the capital, chanting slogans for their nine-point demands. They warned that they would continue their protests until their demands are met.
Additionally, after Friday prayers, general worshippers, including students from Qaumi madrasas, led a protest march from the national mosque. Simultaneously, students from several private universities like East West, BRAC, and UIU also took to the streets.
