Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the quota reform movement, was released blindfolded after a day of detention, his family claims. Following his release at midnight, Nahid was taken to a hospital in the capital for treatment.

Badrul Islam, Nahid’s father, informed BBC Bangla, “He was left blindfolded in Purbachal area early in the morning. He is now receiving medical treatment for physical illness.”

“He was subjected to both mental and physical torture. Once he recovers, he will be able to speak to the media,” Badrul Islam added.

The family had previously reported Nahid’s arrest on Friday night from a residence in Nandipara, Dhaka.

As of now, there has been no official statement from the police or any other authorities regarding Nahid Islam’s detention or release.
